This page is written as a starting point in plain language. Please have it reviewed by a qualified adviser before relying on it.
This page lists everything the Meraki, A Soul's Journey to Wellness website keeps in your browser, why, and for how long. It is short, because the list is short.
The short version
This site sets no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies and no tracking cookies. Nothing follows you from page to page, and nothing about your visit is shared with an advertising or analytics company.
Because the only things stored are strictly necessary for the site to work, no cookie banner is shown. Both Canadian privacy law and the European rules on cookies allow strictly necessary storage without asking first.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep, so the site can remember something between pages or visits. Browsers also offer two close cousins, called session storage and local storage, which work the same way but are never sent to a server on their own. This page covers all three, because the rules that apply to cookies apply to them too.
What this site stores in your browser
1. The opening animation — one entry in session storage, named "meraki-threshold-seen". When you first arrive, the site plays a short opening. This entry remembers that it has already played, so it does not play again on every page during the same visit. It holds a single character, no personal information, and your browser discards it the moment the tab is closed. If you replay the opening from the logo, the entry is simply set again.
2. The private studio room sign-in — one entry in local storage. This exists only if someone signs in to the private studio room on this site, which Shannon Scott uses to read enquiries and keep her appointment book. It holds that person's signed-in session so the room stays open between pages, and it is removed on sign-out or when the session expires. Ordinary visitors never receive this entry, because the public site has nothing to sign in to.
That is the complete list. No entry on this site records which pages you looked at, how long you stayed, what device you use, or where you are.
Things that load only when you ask
The map on the Visit page comes from Google. Nothing is requested from Google until you press "Show the map". Once you do, the map is loaded from Google's servers, and Google may set its own cookies and record the visit under Google's privacy policy. Pressing the button is your choice to allow that; if you would rather not, the full street address is written out beside the map and the "Open in Google Maps" link takes you to Google in a new tab instead.
The short silent video loops and every photograph and typeface on the site are served from this site itself, not from a third party, so they set nothing.
Other sites this one links to
Booking happens on Vagaro. Facebook and Instagram open in their own tabs. Once you are on those sites, their cookie and privacy policies apply, not this one. Nothing you do there passes back through this website.
Clearing or blocking storage
You can clear or block cookies, session storage and local storage in your browser's settings at any time; every major browser explains how in its help pages. Blocking them does not stop this site working. The only effects are that the opening animation will play again on your next visit, and that the private studio room cannot keep someone signed in.
If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signal, it is honoured by default, because there is no tracking here to switch off.
Changes and questions
If the site ever starts storing anything new — for example if a shop with a basket is added — this page will be updated before it goes live, the date at the top will change, and a consent choice will be shown where the law requires one.
